The Silk & The Sea, is a reimagining of the fate of the cargo of a seventeenth-century shipwreck back to its origins. I wanted to discover the people who owned its treasures, the trade routes that connected them, and the stories behind the objects that survived when so much else was lost.

​Remnants... of the Silk & the Sea is a monthly journal drawn from that world of research and discovery. It will explore the real people behind the book through archival fragments, object histories and serialised fiction set in the same era, along with occasional dispatches from my life on Texel.
